Mindfulness gives us the opportunity to notice. Noticing inspires appreciation.

No matter what the state of the world, or our personal circumstances, there is usually something to appreciate in the current moment. Breath, for instance. To be appreciated, however, things must be noticed. Appreciation leads to gratitude, the Holy Grail of happiness. Gratitude centers your energy and attention on, and in, your heart. Heart-centered gratitude is the incubator for joy, delight, miracles, and fun. As the poet Rumi stressed, “Gratitude is wine for the soul. Go on. Get drunk.”

So, let’s do it! Let’s practice noticing and appreciating until being drunk on gratitude becomes our go-to upbeat state of mind, heart, and attitude.
